This Is Why Your Wi-Fi Crawls At Night, And The Fix Takes 30 Seconds
It is not your provider throttling you. The real culprit is sitting on a shelf blinking away.
Ever notice your internet turns to treacle right when everyone gets home? You blame the provider, you blame the weather, you blame the universe. The honest answer is usually your router being asked to do too much at once.
Most home routers broadcast on two lanes, a slower long-range one and a faster short-range one. If all your devices pile onto the slow lane, everything grinds. Streaming stutters, calls drop, and pages spin forever.
The fix is embarrassingly simple. Move your main device closer to the router and connect it to the faster band, often labelled with a 5 at the end of the network name. Give the router a full restart while you are at it.
You will not fix the laws of physics, and thick walls still matter. But nudging your busiest gadgets onto the right lane clears the traffic jam. Suddenly the evening internet feels like the daytime internet again.
