The One Cleaning Order That Makes The Whole Job Twice As Fast

You've probably been doing it backwards for years.

If cleaning always seems to take forever, the problem might not be effort. It might be order. There's one sequence that makes the whole job noticeably faster, and most of us do it completely backwards.

The golden rule is top to bottom, and dry before wet. Start high with shelves and surfaces, work your way down, and save the floor for absolute last. Dust and crumbs fall as you go, so cleaning the floor first just means doing it twice.

Same logic within a room. Tidy and declutter before you wipe anything, because you can't clean a surface that's covered in stuff. Then dust, then wet-wipe the surfaces, then vacuum, and mop as the final step on your way out the door.

Do a whole room start to finish before moving on, rather than drifting between tasks. That way you're never redoing work. Follow the top-to-bottom, dry-before-wet order and you'll shave real time off every clean, without working any harder.
