The 'say the whole price' trend was born. People now film themselves converting monthly-ified prices back into totals: furniture, phones, gym memberships, financed sneakers. The totals sound very different at full volume.

Consumer advocates have warned about 'price partitioning' for years — splitting costs into small numbers because small numbers feel painless. The trend just turned the tactic into a game anyone can catch in the wild.

The new reflex her followers report: whenever a price ends in 'a month,' multiply before you feel anything. Fall in love with the total, not the installment — or as the viral caption puts it, 'Say it out loud. If you flinch, that's the price.'
